Have you ever opened an Excel spreadsheet and discovered that the gridlines were missing? Here are four possible reasons that gridlines are not visible in MS Excel.
- The gridlines may be turned off - Click on the View tab, then check the box for Gridlines in the Show group.
- They gridlines may be colored over - If the background color for a cell is white instead of no fill, then it will appear that the grid lines are missing. Select the cells that are missing the gridlines, or hit Control + A to select the entire worksheet. Then, under the Home tab in the Font group, change the color of the cells by clicking on the little arrow to the right of the can of spilling paint and choosing No Fill.
- The borders have been colored white - Select the affected cells, or select everything with Control + A, then right-click on the cells and choose Format Cells.
Under the Border tab, change the Color to Automatic.
4. The gridlines have been colored white. Click on the File tab. Then choose Options.
Click on Advanced. Scroll down to the Display options for this Worksheet section, and change the Gridline color to Automatic, then click OK.
5. If your gridlines show up but won't print, click on the Page Layout tab (A), then click on the arrow to open the Page Setup page (B). When the page opens, select the Sheet tab (C). Uncheck the Draft Quality option (D). Click OK, then print your document which should now include the gridlines.
